Senior RF Engineer

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced RF Engineer to support the design, development, integration, testing and evaluation of advanced RF systems used across key Defence domains.

This position will suit an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, working with cutting‑edge technology, and contributing to mission‑critical systems involving communications, radar and high‑performance electronic platforms.

Employment: Permanent, full‑time

Location: Flexible across major Defence hubs (role‑specific locations available)

Position Title: Senior RF Engineer

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and refine RF hardware solutions, including high‑frequency circuits and PCB‑based RF modules.
• Conduct RF system simulations, modelling, and performance analysis using industry engineering tools.
• Test, characterise and evaluate RF, analogue, and digital components using advanced electronic test equipment.
• Support system‑level integration activities across communication, radar and sensing systems.
• Prepare technical documentation, system requirements, and engineering analysis reports.
• Participate in internal and external design reviews, providing RF engineering assessment and recommendations.
• Work collaboratively with engineering, design, production and project teams to meet technical, schedule and quality targets.
• Contribute to continuous improvement, reliability engineering, defect investigation, and verification/validation activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 6 - 8 + years in industry (defence desirable)
• Significant hands‑on experience in RF engineering, including design, testing and measurement.
• Strong skills with RF simulation tools and PCB design workflows.
• Experience working with RF test equipment such as VNAs, spectrum analysers and oscilloscopes.
• Ability to interpret standards, requirements and system engineering documentation.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Australian Citizenship mandatory.

Desirable Skills

• Experience with communication systems or radar technologies.
• Knowledge of digital signal processing concepts.
• Familiarity with embedded systems or hardware/firmware integration.
• Proficiency with tools such as MATLAB, Altium or similar.
